From the PI online this morning:
Crash shuts down West Seattle Bridge
By HECTOR CASTRO
Three people were killed on the West Seattle Bridge when the vehicle they were riding in rolled, crashed and burst into flames.
The accident happened at 2:47 a.m. this morning, prompting Seattle police to close the bridge to traffic until at least 9 a.m., police spokesman Rich Pruitt said.
The vehicle, reported as a Toyota Scion, was driving eastbound on the freeway when it lost control at the exit onto northbound Highway 99, Pruitt said.
The vehicle hit a barrier, burst into flames, then struck a middle lane divider.Seattle firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, but found all three people inside dead at the scene.
Police are advising motorists to use alternate routes because traffic collision investigators will have the bridge closed as they gather evidence from the crash site. Any witnesses to the accident are urged to contact Seattle police traffic investigators at 206-684-8923.

What is going on with the West Seattle Bridge? There has been a lot of bad juju lately. It makes me think twice about driving that way to work, but there really is no other way to get there.
I wonder if the accident was caused by kids trying to do "Tokyo Drift?" So sad.

A good friend of mine saw a guy wipe out on a motorcycle on the bridge when it was brand new. This guy also once gave mouth to mouth to a cat and saved his life, so you know he's tops in my book.
As for drift racing, it's been going on in Seattle for years. Particularly in places like Sultan and Monroe and Snohomish where the roads are long and curvy. One of Page's friends wrecked his little RX7 that way, but fortunately not himself.
PS: it was pretty disturbing to drive by the burned-out hulk of the Scion, on its side against the median. Very eerie. God I am starting to hate this bridge.
Peter, I just heard the news, two seventeen year olds and an eighteen year old? I think you were right -- they were trying to drift. Damn.
R: Yes: they were from the high school down the street. Cambodian and Thai kids, so sad, so sad.
hi i know this is a very very old post but those were my friends who lost their lives in that accident and i know for a fact THEY WERE NOT TRYING TO DO "TOKYO DRIFT" because i know Ball "the thai kid" that you referring to which was the driving is not into that racing scene. so i suggest you check your facts before you got another comment like this.
