Robert Creeley RIP

I Know a Man

As I sd to my
friend, because I am
always talking, -- John, I

sd, which was not his
name, the darkness sur-
rounds us, what

can we do against
it, or else, shall we &
why not, buy a goddamn big car,

drive, he sd, for
christ's sake, look
out where yr going.

Thanks for this, this was one of two poems I thought of posting in commemoration and I went with the other ("Here"). I'm glad you gave this one some light.

Embarrassing again - I discovered how little Milosz was on my shelf when he passed, and I found nearly the same state with Creeley. Thank goodness for those old anthologies.

Thanks for sharing that. Creeley wrote so many good epitaphs for himself...they're appearing all over blogland. But I've copied this one & will be reading it at my reading this Sunday... thanks.
