I'm in love with italics. Can't help myself.
I prefer italics to quotation marks. But perhaps rely upon them too often. Hmmm . . .
I thought they worked very well, as always. I also use italics almost exclusively, as opposed to quotation marks, for dialogue, and always use them to indicate a thought or silent voice reverberating.
