Happy Happy

The floors are all sanded down and are looking great. It's amazing how much paler they are with all the old finish gone. We are going with a natural look. I think it will lighten up the rooms a lot.

Some recent good news in the mail:

I am accepted to present at the Skagit River Poetry Festival in May (It's the Pacific NW version of the Dodge Poetry Festival, only smaller scale. I believe it is run by the sister of the guy who does the Dodge Festival).

It's official: I now have a signed contract for the next book from Copper Canyon, and a projected publication date! What's Written on the Body is due out in Spring of 2007. I feel very lucky and honored to have a second book with Copper Canyon. They have been just wonderful to work with.

  13. Congratulations, Peter! Such a great press-- you deserve each other. You always have such great titles, too. I am so looking forward to reading it.

You'll love Skagit. I was there a few years back. I met so many great people and poets. Tell everyone hello for me. And don't miss bringing home lots of Indian smoked salmon. MMMM!!! We had it in cream cheese quesadillas for weeks. Beautiful country, beautiful festival.

  18. Peter,

Congratulations! I have loved your book so much and find myself reaching for it time and time again, whenever I get the chance.

I will certainly want to buy your next book, and I am very happy to see you are still working with Copper Canyon Press. Is Sam still heading up things?

Say 'hey' to Dean for me, and let me know if he wants a copy of the family history I have---it's full of Mormony goodness.

Again, congratulations. I think your poetry is just incredible.

  19. Thanks all: you are so sweet!
Dean and I celebrated tonight with a little picnic in our hotel room: Pagliacci salad, a split chicken breast, and pomegranate martinis that we drank from the little hotel bathroom glasses. It was so fun!
But I wish we were back in our own place. It is hard to be misplaced.
Kelli: yes, new floors are our theme for the year. ~grin~

  22. I can't believe I missed this yesterday. Glad it is now official. Looking forward to reading it. Hey, we can even do a reading or two together. We will both have books out that Spring. Then again, two doctor-poets reading together might send the audience over the edge! Oh Peter, so excited for you.

  23. Thanks BJ, AJ, SR, and CDY.
C Dale: yes I'm definitely up for a reading. But you are right: two doctor-poets might be an overdose. ~grin~
