Question of the Week(end)

If you were a gay man, would you wear capri pants?

Please choose one:

A: Definitely yes! They are the latest fashion statement.
B: Maybe: it depends upon how hot it it is outside.
C: What are capri pants? Are they like cargo pants?
D: Definitely no. I would not be caught dead wearing them.
E: Gay men do not wear capri pants. They are strictly for metrosexuals.

I'm going to have to, reluctantly, choose (C); it's impossible that the phrase "capri pants" could describe the pant-image I have in my brain right now. There's just no way.

Uh, F? I wouldn't be caught dead or alive, gay, straight, bi, trans, or confused in capri pants.

As one fashion writer put it, they are "pants that somehow lost their nerve on the way to becoming shorts."

Ha! That's what I thought they were!

In that case, I'm going with (D)... even though I did wear jams in the 80's. (Not my fault, though.)

E.

Though I'm all about young women in capris.

*sigh*

Alright,

F. Nice calves and ankles are sexy as hell. Bring on the unisex capris!

OMG! Living in DE, I was completely unaware of this trend--I just googled "men's capri pants" and found some that come in camo! Who would simultaneously wear capris and "woodland camo"?

Myself, I would not wear capris. Hell, I would even rather walk down the street naked than be caught in plain old shorts. I'm with Wood. Roll up those trousers and Huck it.

I want to see the Sublibrarian in capri pants. Now I can't stop thinking about it.

Em: that is just hysterical! I can't believe it's not a joke. And that the company making them is called "Ultraforce." Sounds like the name of a porn movie.

Rebecca: Yes. We should buy RS a pair!

E all the way. I mean come on. Capri pants? I would rather just walk around in boxer briefs.

I also vote E on this issue. I like my shorts short and my pants panting.

depends... what kind of gay man am i? i think anyone who wants to should wear em, but if we're talking about ME, laurel Snyder the gay man... I'd say only if, upon transforming into a gay man, I also transform into a very young, thin, fauxhawk-wearing poser...

HAH!

For Rebecca: Something that will help you get rid of that image: Utilikilts. Not the idea of kilts themselves, mind you. But check out the style options for a couple of them. They include "Beer Gut Cut." Now that's disturbing.

Peter said...

C Dale, Charles, Laurel: hahaha.

Ron: yes . . . the kilts are a wholedifferentkinda look, aren't they? I wanna see you in one!

Hi Peter,

My husband just happened to be watching the US Open today and this gent Rafael Nadal wears them:

http://news.bbc.co.uk/media/images/40749000/jpg/_40749275_nadal270.jpg

He's the new tennis heart-throb, though only 19.

I wouldn't wear capris as a male (gay or otherwise) as they stunt the length of the leg, they turn thigh into pie...of course, they do this for women as well, but I think they're pretty cute on girls; they remind of Audrey Hepburn or Jackie O. sailing.

Why, I'm wearing a pair as I type this. Time to go change into a skirt.

Take care

Hi Kel:
I think Rafael Nadal looked great in his capris pants. But he lost today to James Blake. And might now be rethinking his outfit.

Don;t worry though: you look great in anything you wear.

I think if they were sailor-ish, with some cute flip-flops, and if he has nice shapely calves, pretty feet, it would be cute. But they would have to be baggy, very low-waisted, and NOT denim--and he'd have to wear them with cute little sailing shoes. Hmmm. I think i will design something like this for one of my sims...
